Jak poinformowały media, 55-letni Jankow zginął we własnym, luksusowym samochodzie Porshe Kayenne, trafiony siedmioma kulami. Jak podało publiczne radio, prokuratura prowadziła kilkakrotnie dochodzenia przeciwko Jankowowi, badając nielegalną sprzedaż gruntów pod budowę hoteli w Słonecznym Brzegu i Nesebarze, który jest miastem chronionym jako zabytek kultury.
