- Oracle is suing Google for having too much unlicensed Java in Dalvik, which is part of Android, the runaway successful OS.
- Google has defended, saying Dalvik, doesn't have "Java" in it but, Apache Harmony.
- Oracle won't grant Apache free use of a "Java Certified Test Kit" so it can certify that Apache Harmony is 100% "Java Compatible".
- And Apache is complaining that owners of Java, (Sun and now Oracle), continue to put restrictions of use (one of which is that the Test Kit can't be used to certify a Java clone that would be used in "mobile" technology), upon the Test Kit, and thus Java, and thus preventing them from declaring Apache Harmony 100% Java 5/6 compatible; (which would allow an Apache Licensed Java clone(?) to exist).
- And IBM is choosing to do what Oracle wants, and use OpenJDK instead of Apache Harmony; accepting Oracle's continued control over the ultimate use of things made with Java.
Does that pretty much sum it up?
So with Oracle its all about money, right?
Can't Google make some financial arrangement with Oracle, so Oracle would profit some from Android's success too, in exchange for Oracle letting Apache do what it wants with Java?
Can Google buy Oracle?
